Ma Flora’s Helping Hands, Inc., a non-profit organization, was birthed in the memory of Mrs. Flora Mell Gibson who dedicated her life in assisting others. As a child growing up, I was never alone because I had the company of someone in which she was babysitting. She did not care about the money, and sometimes she never received any. Her goal was to ensure children had a safe place to stay while their parents were away at work or just out having fun. She instilled in every child who came across her path the importance of getting an education.

Who We Are
Ma Flora’s Helping Hands, Inc. was birthed in the memory of Mrs. Flora Mell Gibson who dedicated her life to assisting others. As a child growing up I was never alone because I had the company of someone else in which Ma Flora was babysitting. She did not care about money, and sometimes never received any. Her goal was to ensure children had a safe place to stay while their parents were away at work or just out having fun. Most importantly, she instilled in each and every child the importance of being respectful and getting a good education for the purpose of being a productive citizen of society.
Our motto is “Together We Can Make a Difference.”
The organization assist in empowering the youth of Sylvester, and Dougherty counties. Currently we provide scholarships and back to school drives in both counties. It’s ultimately our goal to provide weekend, after-school and summer programs for the youth in these areas. The programs will offer both academic and enrichment activities for youth between the ages of 4-17.
